Safeguarding Policy
At The Belfrey, we are committed to creating a church where everyone—regardless of age or background—feels safe, valued, and supported. Safeguarding is not just about protecting specific groups; it is about ensuring that our whole church community is a place of care, respect, and trust. Jesus calls us to love one another, to look out for the most vulnerable, and to build a community where all can flourish. That’s why we take our safeguarding responsibilities seriously, making sure The Belfrey remains a place of welcome and protection for all.
Safeguarding is the responsibility of our whole church family. Whether you’re a visitor, a regular member, or part of our leadership team, we all have a role to play in fostering a culture of safety and respect. This means being attentive to one another’s wellbeing, knowing how to respond to concerns, and working together to uphold the highest standards of care.
As a church, we are committed to following best practices in safeguarding, working closely with the Diocese of York and statutory agencies to ensure the right policies, training, and support are in place. If you ever have concerns or questions about safeguarding, our dedicated team is here to listen and help.
Creating a safe and welcoming space for all is a joyful privilege and a gospel responsibility. Jesus welcomed and protected the vulnerable, and as His church, we are called to do the same. Together, we seek to be a community where everyone can encounter the love of Christ in an environment of safety, dignity, and trust.
